Night of the Living Dummy II

Goosebumps #31

by R.L. Stine

I got this book in a set of 10 for $19.99. This one (and the other two Night of the Living Dummy books) scared the beejesus out of me as a kid and re-reading them as an adult, I can see why.

Night of the Living Dummy is one of R.L. Stine's stronger stories as far as the fear factor goes, but how's the follow-up? Not QUITE as good, but still solid for a spooky early-reader chapter book. To be fair, I'm scared of dummies and porcelain dolls to begin with, so I'm an easy target.

Still, some of the descriptions of the dummy are very creepy, especially once he's out and about, shambling around the halls and slinking in the shadows.

The other characters are simple and relatable and the family in this one deals with some real-life issues most kids with siblings have to deal with at one time or another- clashing personalities, jealousy, competitiveness.

This one will definitely give your kid goosebumps.
